Swanley U13's 84 - 0 Folkestone U13's
On an unusually hot October day, the under 13s team had their first fixture for the season with Folkestone.
The swans kicked off in front of a big crowd of supporters and stole the ball straight away, leading to the first of many tries from Jake roper who seemed to outrun the whole field many times over. The Swans outplayed a Folkestone team who had greater numbers but couldn't handle our drilled boys.
The swans boys scored try after try, with some long runs from the backs and not to mention the key runs and try assists from the forwards, working as a team, tackling relentlessly and shouldering this team effort.
The defence was outstanding, and every member of the squad got involved and made the game their own.
The second half saw Folkestone threatening a comeback. However, the defence from the Swanley lads kept them from getting the ball over the line. Although only a meter away, it wasn't to be, which just showed the determination within the squad.
Folkestone played well and hard but was not up to the strength and skills of the swans this time around.
The leadership within the team kept the motivation going throughout despite the heat.
Waterboy for the first quarter, Damo did well but was soon replaced by Johnny, who did a great job for the rest of the game.
The 12 try result gave the first ever win for this team and showed the potential for the future
Thanks to referee Steve, all the coaches, the refreshment team, and the supporters.
The boys return next week with a trip to Gravesend. Can they continue this momentum?
