Gravesend U13s 49 v 21 Swanley U13s
Riding high on the back of their win last week, the U13's travelled away for a more challenging meet with Gravesend.
Gravesend made a strong start running in the first try after a few minutes but the Swans were resilient and pushed all the way up the field for what proved to be a real team effort try, scored by Buddy who we welcome back to the team for his first competitive game.
The boys played contested scrums for the first time in a game and really got stuck in. There's something in the water in BR8 as the lads really put it to G's in the set piece.
The cygnets training was showing, with good ball in hand work and their aggression in the tackles and rucks.
A few injuries put the boys under strain, but they adapted well, dug deep, and showed a good strength in depth.
Gravesend took advantage of this and sneaked in a few triys, but all this did was egg on the Swanley battering ram Zak to run the length of the pitch to dot down. Not to be outdone, Captain Matthew used his quick thinking to snipe through on a quick tap, leaving the score 21 each.
The Swans held out as long as they could, but with a few more knocks, the energy reserves began to deplete too low, allowing G's to finish the fame off with a flurry of trys.
Well done, Gravesend, on the victory. They are a well drilled squad, and we look forward to getting better and better upon our future meets.
Thanks to all the supporters who came to cheer the boys on great to see so many of the club family coming out to shout for the lads.
The boys are back at the end of November when we welcome Dartford Valley to ours.
If you want to get involved with any of our youth sections, we have free youth and mini training every Sunday at the Rec, 10 am onwards.
