Kings college hospital 2xv 12 - 11 Swanley Men
Heartbreak in the dying minutes.
Due to last minute injuries and work commitments the swans arrived with 14 players including 78 year old coach Morris.
KCH were kind enough to loan a winger who would arrive 5 minuted after KO. The swans dominated the first half playing 35 minutes in the oppo half. Phase play was good and decision making second to none.
20 minutes in and a KCH injury led to the loaned player returning to his own colours. Even being down 2 players the men in green finished the half with a try and penalty kick, 0-8.
The second half saw KCH testing the Swanley defense with 90% of the time in the green half, the constant pounding proved to much and bodies started to show the toll. Injuries were thick and fast and the swans ended up on the wrong side of a 3 man advantage.
Low and behold they stood their ground and utilised their counter attacks to secure 3 more points, 0-11.
The game turned when KCH's monster hooker powered through James Cornwell sending him on his way to local A&E with a dislocated shoulder, this also spurred Ali Whibley to return to the field to try and fill the void carrying his bruised ribs.
With 10 minutes to go KCH finally got over the line with their quick fire trys from the centre and flanker, 12-11.
A true warriors performance from the swans against the odds and they should all be proud of what they delivered today but areas to work on Tuesday.
Swanley Men will return next week at the nest with visitors Guys St Thomas Hospital followed by the Halloween social, tickets available on the website.
