Baptism of Fire.

After a longer than usual journey, the swans arrived fully staffed to a bare 13 for Southwark. In the spirit of the game the swans matched their numbers and the game commenced.

The teams were matched in the forwards with the Swanley scrum taking the edge on the set pieces, but in the backs Lancers had the pace and agility.

It was a tight first half but after a couple of more experienced men in green taking injuries in the second half the gaps started to become visible.

We were saddened to hear of the folding of Southwark Lancers 2nd team and hope they can rebuild and start playing in their league again rather than for their 1st and 3rd teams.

The Swans will return next Saturday, more details to be released during the week.
