Charlton Park 2s 0 v 45 Swanley Men
The day of the Cobra!!
The swans were keen today, eager to continue their recent good form and prepare for the challenge next week.
With a few last-minute changes to the lineup due to illness and work, the green and white took to the field.
A slow first half, with the 2 heavy packs battling it out for the upper hand. Then, out of nowhere, POW! Dan Ash with a great individual effort, chip over, and chase to dot down. The remainder of the half consisted of the swans giving away penalties for poor jackling attempts, 14-0 at the half.
After a telling off in the huddle from Coach Coombes, the boys pulled up their socks and set out with purpose.
The ball was sent from wing to wing, spreading play with offloads to boot. It's evident the lads are training regularly together as it's all just working.
Fantastic team worked trys giving "Cobra" Kai Husher 2 scores for the day and punishing runs also rewarding Jozef Rowbotham with 10 points.
Special mention to debutant Steve "steam engine" Roper, who went from wanting 10 minutes at the end to playing a full 80, a mighty feat for the 57 year old.
Charlton were no pushover, with a mixture of experience and strong youngsters they were asking all the right questions. The game was played in the right spirit with plenty of hugs and smiles after. We wish Park the best for the rest of the season.
