Old Alleynians XV 57 - 15 Swanley Men 29/04/23
A tough shift on the road.
The green and white army arrived in dribs and drabs to Dulwich common due to traffic, the early KO, and just a general sense of uselessness of the boys!!!
Starting the game off with 14, old A's took advantage of this and utilised their spritely backs to dot down early doors.
Not to be put out, the Swanley pack bullied their way up the field to equal the game.
The swans were returned to full strength with the arrival of the bash brothers and tried to set in their game plan.
Possession was kept mostly in Swanley hands but as soon as a sniff of the ball was given to the home team, they punished the swans with rapid running, off-loads galore, and general youth and fitness.
Just like the rest of the season, the swans were dominant up front but weaker round the edges, areas of focus for pre-season next year.
Congratulations to Old A's on the victory. It was a real shift from both sides, and we hope your backs are available to come to ours next time also.
This leaves the league tied for first place!!
But unfortunately, Old A's take the victory with points difference, so again, congratulations π.
Not to be disheartened, this season has been nothing but spectacular for the club.
Our ambition was purely to field a side for all our fixtures after having a disastrous season last year, and to finish the top of the league is magical.
Well done to players, coaches, bevy, and everyone else involved in the club.
With our move to our new home imminent, the next 12 months are going to be very exciting.
This is the end of competitive rugby until pre-season, but there will still be plenty going on in the club throughout the summer.
